THE ORIGIN STORY

Why we launched Tayside Stoves

For over two decades, Steve Beattie Joinery has been renovating homes across Dundee, Angus, and Stonehaven. During this time, we noticed a recurring problem.

Customers would hire a “stove company” to put a log burner in. The stove would work, but the finish was often poor. We were constantly being called in afterwards to fix rough plasterwork, install new skirting boards, or relay hearths that hadn’t been levelled correctly.

We realised there was a better way.

We built Tayside Stoves to offer a complete, end-to-end service, combining over 25 years of building experience with specialist stove expertise. The result is a company that cares just as much about how the wall looks as how the fire burns.

Family Run

Run by Steve and the team, based locally in Arbroath.

We employ our own joiners, builders, and plasterers.

Most stove companies are just plumbers who fit flues. We are master builders.

Structural Knowledge

We understand load-bearing walls, lintels, and timber framing. We can safely open up chimney breasts that other installers are afraid to touch.

Perfect Plastering

The area around a stove gets hot. We use the correct heat-resistant rendering and plastering techniques to ensure no cracking occurs later.

Interior Design

Because we are joiners, we can build bespoke alcove units, floating oak mantels, and media walls that perfectly integrate with your new fire.

Safety First

We never compromise on safety. If a chimney isn’t safe to line, or a distance to combustibles is too short, we won’t fit the stove. We strictly follow Document J building regulations.

Cleanliness

Knocking out a fireplace creates dust. We use industrial extraction units and sheet up your furniture to treat your home with respect.

Transparency

Our quotes are itemised. You see exactly what you are paying for—the stove, the liner, the labour, and the materials. No hidden extras.
